In November 2018 I went to Saudi Arabia for a 2-year contract with automatic renewal. In August 2019 my life took a turn (Crumb 2). I returned to South Africa to gather the pieces.
Jeremiah 29:13-14, amongst other confirmations from the Holy Spirit, got me to the point of returning to South Africa. It was soooo relevant to my circumstances, “You will seek Me, you will find me, I will return you from captivity, gather you from all the nations and restore you to your former fortunes” (Amp). “I am coming home… I am coming home… tell the world I am coming home…” I arrived back in South Africa on the 25th of November 2019, with my 2 suitcases, and a promise of restoration from God, with a promise like that you don’t need anything more than 2 suitcases, I can take on the world… Lets go!!!! Uuumm… Jaaa… sooo… uuum… okay… we have nice weather for this time of the year, don’t you think?
What laid ahead of me was not what I envisioned… actually the total opposite. My bubble got burst, very early on in my return… Nothing worked out, everything got a stick stuck in front of it, everything… the confidence dried out… but my hunger for God grew, and God does not let His children remain hungry, as long as there is an open mouth and a open heart He will feed it, He did, and still does (Isaiah 55:1-3). Praise be to God.
I went for a few “counselling sessions” with someone dear to me, not a counsellor by profession, but deeply grounded in the Father’s love… a lot was said and a lot of tears were shed… it was good for the soul. One thing that really stayed with me during these discussions was “You cannot expect or rely on any person to provide you emotional and spiritual healing, they might provide support during the process, but you need to draw this healing from Jesus, He is the true and only healing to brokenness… your completeness is in Christ, you need to grow into it.”
“Dawie, It’s not about you… it is… buuuuut… it is not.”
“Holy Spirit, if it is not about me, then who or what is it about? What am I missing? Reveal to me the missing pieces.”
I had the wrong picture for the puzzle I am trying build… I had puzzle pieces of Superman, but worked off a picture of Captain Underpants. That would take me forever to complete, if ever… When this thought came about, it changed my view of what’s happening around me, my search to questions changed. I revisited all the scripture the Holy Spirit shared with me over the past few months, everything started to fit together… “WOW… wait a minute… this piece links this picture with that picture… Ooooh, and I had this piece upside down here.” It’s all coming together now, not even close to being done, but it surely changed the way I see things, it surely changed the way I choose to respond to things, it changed my way of thinking, reading and praying… Did Romans 12:1-2 finally activate? “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you can live a life pleasing to God, as a sacred and holy sacrifice, which will be a true expression of worship to God, our Father.” I doubt we will ever fully satisfy the potential of this scripture; but we should never stop striving to perfect it though.
Looking at Jeremiah 29:13-14 with a renewed mind… let us caption it, I inserted the Amplified version.
‘Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord , ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the Lord , ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’
Lets look at the meanings of the words used in Hebrew from the KJV, and re-caption it
Verse 13

Search – usually to follow, to worship, diligently inquire, question, require, to practice, study, follow, seek with application

Nation – sense of foreign nation (Gentile), flight of locust, heathen
Places – a standing, locality, space, room, distance

You will seek Me with a desire and deep longing, and you will find Me as being sufficient enough and a necessity when seeking Me with practice, application and worship of an understanding heart and soul.
I will be discovered, I will be encountered by you, I will give payment for you and cause you to return to the former state of prosperity. I will cause you to return from the distance I have chased you to, I will refresh the condition of your body and mind to its initial state which was stripped off you.
It still didn’t answer my question of “Who is it about?” But it surely holds a key to the answer… Meditating on this scripture, and reading it in different translations and meaning of the words used; I can’t help but to think of an event where God sent Man into exile, where God removed people from a place, and were placed in captivity after their choice of sin…
Darn, I am at my 1000 word cap… keep that thought…
To be continued…

I am thoroughly enjoying these pieces. I am also only starting to find the pieces that go together. It is inspiring to know others have also gone through challenging times and that it is only God that has brought them through and let them find new life in Him. Thank you God for never leaving us, nor forsaking us. All the glory to You God.
